This interactive programme is designed to provide opportunities for high-risk staff to become more aware of safety issues and to add to their repertoire of interpersonal skills that may keep them safer.

On completion of the programme the Lone Worker will have a better understanding of Risk Management and will be more aware of recognising as far as possible how to Reduce the likelihood of incidents occurring which could have significant consequences for individuals, staff, patients and/or an employer.

Aims: To enable participants to understand:

  • The benefit of effective communication skills
  • Body language
  • Concepts of attitude and behaviour
  • Conflict management
  • Risks and hazards

Objectives: Following the programme participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Understand body language
  • Understand the concepts of attitude and behaviour
  • Differentiate between a risk and a hazard
  • Understand threat assessments

Intended for:

 

Lone Workers who operate/work by themselves without close or direct supervision and/or if they have neither visual nor audible communication with someone who can summon assistance.

This integrated programme encourages Lone Workers to mix with each other and work in groups assessing, evaluating and resolving scenario and video based examples of effective: Communication Skills, Body Language, Attitude and Behaviour, Risks and Hazards and Conflict Management highlighting situations they may have encountered.

Working through the programme, staff will gain a greater knowledge and understanding of communication, assertiveness and conflict management.

Our aims and objectives are to encourage staff to provide a better quality of service for their clients, their colleagues and themselves.

By respecting, listening and appreciating each other’s ideas and opinions they will collectively understand the importance of bringing the learnt elements of this programme to their work environment.

On completion of the course, participants are asked to reflect and complete our feedback form which is optional and anonymous, copies of which can be provided to the employer. Certificates of attendance are received by all participants.
